Content and Layout Guidelines

  • A. Visual Summary
  • Your poster should communicate the core findings of your study using minimum text and maximum visuals.
  • Include graphs, charts, maps, tables, and images where appropriate.
  • Avoid unnecessary decorative elements; use visuals to support comprehension.
  • B. Title and Header
  • Display the poster title, presenter and co-author names, as per template.
  • Use capitalized first letters for main words in titles and visuals (e.g., tables and figures).

Typography and Font Usage

  • Title Font Size: Must be visible from 10 meters.
  • Body Text Font Size: Minimum 18 pt, readable from 2 meters.
  • Keep the text concise and structured using bullet points.
  • Use Sans Serif fonts only: Arial, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, or Microsoft Sans Serif.
  • Limit to no more than three fonts in your poster. Apply consistently for headings, body text, and captions.
  • Avoid large data blocks in text. Use tables/graphs to summarize results.

Colour and Design

  • Prefer matte or non-glossy finishes to reduce glare.
  • Use bold and coordinated colors to highlight important information — not just for decoration.
  • Leave sufficient white space to prevent crowding and improve readability.

Key Thesis / SOCO Statement

  • Include a Single Overriding Communication Objective (SOCO) – the one key message you want your audience to retain.
  • Example framing: “What is the single most important takeaway from this study?”

Text Content

  • Study background and purpose
  • Main results (supported visually)
  • Conclusions and implications
  • Include a “References Cited” section at the bottom if external sources are used.

Poster Collection

  • Posters will be mounted by the organizers and remain on display throughout the conference.
  • Presenters can collect their posters on the final day.
